I was visiting the area and in pain on Christmas day.. The facilities were excellent and spotless. The staff were friendly and respectful especially the doctor who treated me, she even made Sure that we would find the out of hours pharmacy easily. Well done Co CH Whitehaven _ you could teach our nearest hospital a few things.

Many thanks to Julie who was very kind and super efficient. Totally blown away by the speed and courteous service I recieved, will certainly spread the word. A big thank you to the receptionist who was really lovely. I think if l had not been able to get an appointment l would not of been able to go to work on Tuesday as the infection needed treatment quickly and an appointment with my own GP would of been at least a couple of weeks away, now on the mend thanks to all concerned. I was given an appointment very quickly (I called up at 09.30 and the appointment was at 10.15) and I was seen on time. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!

I just wanted to get in touch to say a huge thank you to everyone we encountered at the CHOC, from us speaking to the health advisor, the GP I spoke to on the phone and the nurse practitioner at the hospital. I only wish I knew their names. During the bank holiday weekend my husband, friend and I were visiting Cumbria on holiday. Unfortunately I experienced a miscarriage on the bank holiday Monday. Obviously I was extremely worried and distressed, but the staff I spoke to took the time to listen carefully and despite how busy the service was that night, they showed compassion and understanding. I am extremely grateful to the nurse practitioner who saw me that night who after checking my symptoms made me feel like my fears were well founded and got me booked in for an emergency scan the following day. Unfortunately my fears were confirmed at the scan, but all the staff at West Cumberland Hospital showed professionalism and sympathy at every stage and if you were able to pass on my thanks to those working that night I would be very grateful.

Asked to attend 10.45 having cancer and severe fibromyalgia,but that wwasn't the problem i was having terrible pain in right rib cage on a score of 1_10 this was a ten.also pain around soft tissue and still am as i right this.When we got there tots were in poorly they were taken first,this i found fair enough,but then a 20 , year old went in he came out laughing stating he had water infection then another man went in with a foreign name that the staff couldn't even pronounce.After 40 mins later we were told the people who were classed as more poorly than me were getting priority.how long did i have to wait?yes the tots first but not water infections and minor ailments.if i had not left at11.25 pm which was 45 minitues, i agree we were told to travel 14miles had still not spoke to doctor or nurse i may still have been there this morning.yes i am still in pain but trying to control it with prescribed medication Hope i never need cohc again at west cumberland

The doctor was very clear and understanding and listened to what I had to say which not all doctors do, I would certainly give her 100%. She diagnosed my condition and gave me very clear instructions about how to continue for improvement. The whole process from start to finish was excellent. Eric Kirkbride

I was ill away from home and out of hours. I was seen and discharged in less than half an hour. The doctor and desk staff were very personable and helpful, the doctor immediately put me at ease about my ill health.. prescribed meds and advised further treatment on my return home

Very prompt and polite service from the person who took the initial call through to the receptionist and the doctor all were very kind and thoughtful throughout. We did not have to wait , appointment 14.30 seen at 14.30 .Pity our local GP surgery wasn't as efficient.

Not everyone gets ill during office hours. And the people who get ill out of office hours often do not require A&E but do need to see a doctor pretty quick. The out of hours service is absolutely spot on at filling this need. It is very reassuring to know that you always have access to a doctor, whatever the time. I don't have any suggestions for improvement, but please, please keep the service running!
